Location Mode in VoiceStack allows you to quickly redirect calls at the location level during emergencies. It is a temporary and easily reversible action that helps manage incoming calls without relying on individual agent actions or schedule changes. Let's check out how to configure Location Mode.
Create a Location Mode
1. Go to Configuration > Calls > Location Mode.
2. Click + Create Location Mode
3. In the Create Location Mode modal, provide the following details:
- Mode Name: Enter a suitable name (e.g., Meeting, Break, Staff Training).
- Location: Select the location from the dropdown.
- Device Types: Select the device types for which calls should be restricted.
4. Click Create Mode.
| Note: When you select All under Device Types, the Forwarding PhoneTree option becomes available. You can select a phone tree destination to route calls. |
Enable a Location Mode
Once you create a Location Mode, you must enable it to use it.
1. In the Location Mode screen, locate the mode you want to enable.
2. Enable the toggle button on the Action column.
3. In the confirmation pop-up, click Confirm.
4. Once enabled, a banner appears at the top with the notification and status.
| Note: When Location Mode is enabled on the softphone, the notification banner is displayed within the softphone. |
Enable Location Mode for Deskphone
1. In the Create / Edit Location Mode modal, select Deskphone under Device Types, then click Save Mode.
2. In the Admin App, navigate to Configuration > Calls > Devices.
3. Select the device you want to configure based on the chosen location and click Configure.
| Tip: Use Filter by Location to view devices assigned to a specific location. |
4. In Button Configuration, select Location Mode from the Line dropdown. Then enter a Value and Label, and click Update.

Edit a Location Mode
1. Locate the mode you want to edit and click Configure.
2. Make the required changes and click Save Mode.
| Note: The Location cannot be edited. |
Delete a Location Mode
1. Locate the mode that you want to delete and click Delete.
2. In the confirmation dialog, click Delete to confirm.
Additional Options in Location Mode
Filters
- Filter by Location: Filter results by location.
- Filter by Status: Filter results by Active or Inactive.
