Let's see how to create Extensions and manage their administration in VoiceStack.

Creating an Extension
1. Navigate to Configuration > Calls > Extensions.
2. Click Create Extension.
3. On clicking Create Extension, a dialog box appears. The following table provides a description of the fields.
| Field | Description |
| Extension Number | (Optional) A unique internal number for the extension. The system validates for duplicates. |
| Extension Name | (Mandatory) Descriptive name for identification; follow naming conventions. |
| Location | (Mandatory) Select the office or site from the dropdown list. |
| Ring Group | (Optional) Add to a Ring Group for shared call handling. |
| SVM (Shared Voicemail) | (Optional) Assign a group voicemail if needed. |
| Allow Extension Takeover | Let's agents temporarily log into an existing extension from another authorised device. When enabled, it allows the agent to retain their phone number, call settings, and voicemail access while switching workstations. Learn more here. |
4. Complete the required fields in the dialog box.
5. Click Create to save the new extension or Cancel to discard changes.
Updating an Extension
- Locate the desired extension using search or filters.
- Click Configure to update the extension.
3. Modify fields such as Extension Name, Location, Ring Group, and SVM.
4. Click Update to save or Cancel to discard changes.
Deleting an Extension
1. Find the extension in the list and click Deactivate.
2. Click Deactivate in the confirmation modal. A success toast message is displayed, and the selected extension is now deactivated.
